Yoga Therapy, or Chikitsa, is a personalized and holistic approach to healing that empowers you to take charge of your health and well-being. By integrating the ancient principles of yoga with modern therapeutic techniques, Yoga Therapy addresses specific physical and mental health concerns, including illness, injury, and dysfunctional movement patterns.
Through a combination of mindful movement, breathwork, and restorative practices, Yoga Therapy works to restore balance to the whole body and mind. This approach is not one-size-fits-all—each session is tailored to your unique needs, complementing any existing healthcare regimen you may have.
In Yoga Therapy, we consider all aspects of your life, including your daily movement habits, your work and home environment, your sleep patterns, your diet, and both your physical and mental health. This comprehensive view allows us to create a plan that supports your overall well-being and promotes healing from within.
Your first session is dedicated to gathering information to better understand your health and goals. This includes a detailed intake form, followed by a conversation about your history, current challenges, and desired outcomes. A series of assessments are conducted to assess your physical and mental health:
Corrective Action Plan:
Based on the initial assessments, a tailored corrective action plan will be developed. Each subsequent session will focus on addressing specific concerns, working to correct imbalances in the body that may be contributing to pain, discomfort, or dis-ease. As we progress, we will continue to refine your practice to support long-term healing and optimal functioning.

Ayurveda is referred to as the sister science to yoga. It is India's ancient holistic healthcare system. Ayurveda means the knowledge of life or the science of life.
Three Doshas in Ayurveda
The universe and in turn ourselves are made up of the elements, space, air, fire, water and earth. The doshas are combinations of these elements.
Vata is space and air
Pitta is fire and water
Kapha is earth and water
These doshas reside in the body and help the body to function. When in balance we are healthy, when these doshas are disturbed we develop dis-ease in the body.
At each session your ayurvedic pulse will be taken. One pulse determines your prakriti, this is the doshic profile you where born with. The second pulse, Vrikriti determines your daily profile. This can change depending on how well the body is balanced.
Outside influences can affect the doshas within our bodies and mind. These changes, if caught early, can be remedied. If left disturbed they can lead to more serious conditions overtime.
Yoga Therapy works in tandem with Ayurveda to harmonize the elements within and bring the doshas home.

Practicing yoga is becoming widely used in clinical settings.
Yoga supports existing healthcare treatments and benefits the individual by promoting awareness of the connection between the mind and body.
Yoga has been found to reduce inflammation and pain in the body, increase balance and cognition, and provide stability in physical, mental, and emotional health. It creates a better outlook on life, provides ease in the body and mind, better sleep and dietary habits, and community and support for clients and their caregivers.
A 2012 US Government and CDC survey found that an estimated 30% of the population used complementary medicine, and 9.5% specifically practiced yoga.
